In engineering, risk isn’t managed from a desk. Understanding the equipment, the environment, and the impact of your own intervention can only be done on site.
We carry out an in-person survey to understand exactly where the leak is coming from – photographs, measurements and 3D scans are taken but the survey isn’t limited to the immediate leak point. We also include what’s around the leak, such as walls, brackets, pipes, cables, process variables, safety distances and site-specific risks such as weather. We work within the customer’s Safe Systems of Works and, critically, recognise that we are often the biggest temporary hazard, interacting with the asset so we define the controls required.
When customers contact us about an SF6 leak, the stakes are already high. SF6 is environmentally damaging and regulatory scrutiny is high.
Our goal is simple: stop the leak while analysing and controlling risks.
Deployments follow predefined parameters developed through in-house testing and externally validated trials, particularly around temperature and pressure. Customer equipment is recreated in-house, where we test and validate our bespoke leak sealing equipment until a high degree of certainty in the outcome is achieved.
On site we carry out dynamic risk assessments, establish a leak baseline, apply the cast, then re-measure performance. Longer-term monitoring confirms effectiveness over time.
This approach manages hazards by:
- Minimising impact on customer equipment and operations
- Working within clearly defined pressure and temperature limits
- Replicating real site conditions before deployment
- Managing forces, materials and interfaces deliberately
- Aligning internal and external SSOW throughout the process
The result: a high performing seal that is reversible if required.
Good engineering isn’t about bold promises.
It’s about detailed preparation, controlled execution and evidence you can stand behind.
